Let me be blunt here; this is pretty stupid—if the owner of a restaurant is a pastor and it’s against his moral or religious values not to sell wine to customers, that’s fine. But it’s beyond hypocrisy when waitresses at the same restaurant take money from customers, walk to the next shop to buy wine for them—and serve them with a glass from the same ‘LE MUST’ restaurant.
It doesn’t make any sincere sense in the grand scheme of things and CustomerDiscuss.Com is happy the below reader, Ms M. Amankwa has shared her experience with us—more also, she was right to walked out of ‘LE MUST’ restaurant.
If you are charging me 15 GHS for a bottle of water and you will have to go to Shoprite to buy me a wine because of some owner principle which you don’t even respect, then you do not deserve me as a customer.
A French restaurant or something like that with alcohol prohibition; only in Ghana.
Now, this will serve as a good guide to our many readers, if you want to enjoy some great wine with your food— LE MUST at the Accra Mall should be off your list.
And don’t help with their hypocrisy by allowing them to buy the alcohol from next door—if they want to serve alcohol, they should boldly do it and if they don’t want to, they should firmly stick by whatever principle they hold.
At any point in time, the customer must know what the score is…
It’s Friday evening (5pmish), I walked into the Accra Mall with a friend to wind down the hard week. Two uniformed young men approached us as we made our way to the food court and lured us into the newly opened LE MUST restaurant.
It was my first time entering. Good ambience, hardly any customers there, waiters were hanging around. I blurted out my order as we make our way to a corner table; ‘I am dying for a glass of red wine’
We sat. The waiter was still staring at me “Glass of red wine please’ I repeated my order. He smiled sheepishly and said ‘I am sorry we don’t serve alcohol here,’— my face fell.
I looked around and wonder why a French restaurant in the middle of a mall won’t serve wine of all beverages. ‘LE MUST’ I think translates to ‘a must have’ or ‘it’s a must buy’ in English.
I had to have that wine so I made ready to leave—and that’s when the waiter said ‘but we can buy it for you’… ‘huh?’ I retorted.
The waiter said he can buy the wine from the next shop if I want and that they do it all the time for other customers. So I gave the dude money to buy me a particular wine and lo and behold he came back with it, opened it and gave me glasses to drink from.
At this point I was drinking wine from shoprite and using LE MUST glasses. That’s when the waiter dropped the next bombshell ‘our owner is a pastor so he doesn’t like selling alcohol from here’… Huh???? But he likes serving it???

Customer service in Ghana and most parts of Africa is the crappiest we’ve ever come across; as if Ghanaians or Africans use mango leaves to pay for services. The broadband never works, the electricity is never on, the water never flows—and the waitress can keep you waiting for your food until hunger kills your buds.
The real pain is, you have no alternative to turn to—because, like a gang of fools, they are all the same.
Almost every service and product delivering company in Africa has it butt in the faces of customers, farting uncontrollably because the customer cannot really do anything. Mostly, if you quietly complain, they do nothing and if you are unlucky, they tell you to go f**k off.
Consumers have no voice, not even individual voices—let alone a collective one to force any sort of change.
So we’ve started this website-CustomerDiscuss.Com, supported by GhanaCelebrities.Com and other platforms, dedicated to corporate and public Africa, especially Ghana—-it’s time we shame some of these companies, tear down their lousy services, help them to lose customers and force them to do what’s right.
We are not here to destroy people’s businesses, rather we cant to force things to be changed—so those businesses which offer great customer service will be duly acknowledged and commended.
